Baffle Wrap Questions...Opinions

Here's an update. I put a set of 2.00" baffles in the rush mufflers. I have some of the stock rush baffle mat wrapped with some stove rope. I used stainless band clamps to hold the rope in place at the ends of the baffles. It has a deeper sound than the 1.75" baffles. I'm pretty happy with it now.

I had 2" baffles on Rush slip-ons on my '08 Sportster. Way too loud. Went with the 1.5" and the sound is still loud but almost bearable. Repacked them with Drag Specialties fiberglass mat, and reversed the baffles to let the louvers catch the sound. Much better. I had a post somewhere about reversing the baffles. Maybe the Sportster site.
Also read a horror story about wrapping the packing with wire. The wire may jam between ther baffle and muffler shell when trying to remove the baffle making it nearly impossible to withdraw the baffle. Just use tape.
