Default best bang for the Buck

I want to get the most displacement out of my motor with what I already have. Can I do a 113" kit and still use my exhaust intake and throttle body? Or should I be thinking more along the lines of the SS 106 kit with worked heads and cans? I realize there will be a $3000 between them. I want usable power thats reliable.

Many will reply with many scenarios, for me when you use the word reliable I would not tear the lower end apart till it is necessary so that leaves out the 113 or anything bigger and although S&S builds great stuff you already have cylinders so why not just go 103 with your existing cylinders get a little headwork and a cam to match. Your existing exhaust and TB should be just fine and you won't get caught up in the fever too badly. Almost no matter what you do a HD isn't gonna be that fast so pick some level/line to stop at and try not to step over it, cause if you do it's gonna never stop costing you $. Till you sell it and start over this time swearing not to do the same thing again...LOL

I had half a thought of getting a second motor to build so that I could put the stocker back in if I sell it. I know I can do a 103 for super cheap but I'm not sure how much ill love that set up. I had a VTX 1800 which I though was a good size. Of course the the HD is much lighter so it would not take much to get it up there

Gtrracer is right.

At some point, as with tuning, you just say, enough, let's roll.

No matter what, hard to beat overhead cams and 3-4 valves heads. Though I have tried. And t will cost 4-5000 bucks for parts and you do most of the labor. Without going into the bottom end.

If considering a 113", then a 117", is the same labor/machine work.
Fellow forum member BAGGERDSM, has a 117", that runs 138/140.
Drives it anywhere he wants.
A 124" is about 350.00 more
BUT a well-prepped 106-107", is certainly, not a weakling either.

I left mine 96" and I'm happy with it. When I pulled my heads for porting I thought about it but decided to wait for crank work before going bigger. With how well it's running now I can't see doing any more engine work.
