Im curious, maybe i missed a post.
If this was a bolt on kit why did H&D have to do any cylinder honing?
the pic is a bit dark but the rods look like some one was hammering on them. that sux.
Pistons look hashed....bad. Ive pulled apart 100k mile engines that looked better than that.
kinda looks like it may have had a slight lubrication issue as well.

I bought a S&S 95 kit a few years back, and i never installed it. but it looked like a bolt on and go deal, i read nothing in the instructions that indicated that I would need to do additional work to the kit, i wouldnt have bought the thing in the first place if I would have known that.
as far as the bore finish and piston clearance that would fall on S$S.
I doubt that DH has a habit of playing floor hockey with cranks, so I think your shop might have some explaining to do!

well, out here in cali, ive gone the rounds to some consumer VS. shop court deals, and if the shop or the consumer looses there is the appeals prosess and all the other red tape, so, dont think justice will be swift and just, and you'll be getting a check in the mail the next day.
I guess as soon as DH gets done with the crank we will know what the real deal is, till then I would say that the piston wear dose suck but probably not related to the vibration. all the other BS with the bike looks rather damning.

I am not going to pass judgement on you, the builder or S&S as I don't have a dog in this hunt.
What I am going to say that anyone that is building an engine must never take for granted that anything is a "bolt together" You check clearances, ring gap, deck height, calculate quench, and on and on. I am sure that the reputable builders on this site all do this, as do I whether it is a build for myself, or for someone paying me to do the work.
