Seems to me it's either balanced or it's not. There ain't no in between. If it's not balanced at low revs, it's not gonna be balanced at higher revs either.

That unbalanced tire is always out of balance. It may be more pronounced at different times, but's always out of balance. A crank is no different. It either is, or isn't. I may be wrong, but I don't think you can 'tune' a crank to be smooth at certain rpms, but not others.

no you are not wrong altho we use the word balanced i beleive it is not true the more correct word would be trued and welded ... as yes it is balanced but not what we might think. the weightt is dispersed more evenly. so trued is actually better. call dark horse and ask them i could be wrong. it is set up to reduce vibration not eliminate it yes your buddy probley has a trued crank certin rpm will be smoother then others ...remember we are dealing with a 100 yr old design not a yamaha or honda here. the ttolorences in those other bikes are a lot better. as the metalurgy techniques are far superior then a harley.
like i said before quality in quality out.
