If your motor is junk you can get it rebuilt thru the MOCO's program. Comes back as a new stocker.
If you're looking for more power S&S has a good product & a few different motors to choose from.
You don't want a revtech motor. Or a motor that's pieced together.
There's some others out there as well like Jim's, G-Squared, or Ultima. They all offer something different. Figure out what you want to get out of the motor then the choice will be easier.

Cool S&S IS best.....but....

if you can't do most of your our maintence or know a good indy shop you should build your old motor up strong. Most Harley shops won't even change tires once you've changed to a different motor. They say it's not A Harley. A friend of mine put in an S&S in a'97 Electra Glide Standard & ended up going to 5 different Harley shops to even get tires changed. Not saying ALL will take that stand but if you're on a road trip it could present a problem.

if you want kick azz insane power, go with G-Squared ---extremely expensive but worth the coin -- my bud has G-126 in 00 RK -- scares the hell of him and all the sport bikes he pulls up too

Alot of good info. Well there's a guy who's sellin a new 96" s&s with edelbrock heads $2850.00 It was for a build but changed his mind. Ive heard nothing but bad things about our local HD mechanics, we have some custom shops that will do the work.

That is an awfull good price, those heads leave a lot to be desired but for that short money you could change them later to some better heads.

Just rebuild yours, much cheaper and you can basically have it done now how you want it. Real dumb idea to buy a refurb from the factory, as your back where you started from a stock motor.

I would have Scott from hillside build a mean SnS motor and keep the old motor for putting back in the bike If you sell. Keep the SnS for the next bike.
