Very informative post. This is along the lines of what I want to do. How much more to go with the gear drive set-up? My bike has 8000 miles. Do you think everything else should be in good shape that has mileage conditions?

If we do the heads, we offer Gear drive cams for approximately $550-$600 (depends on cam selection and availability).

This is just my opinion, and others may disagree. To me it's worth a little extra to go ahead with a gear drive set up. An absolute must if this a bike you plan on having a long time. I had 20K on mine when I did a cam swap, and both tensioners were in real bad shape. I just took out a set of the SE203's and went with the Kuryakyn Wild Things TC2G's. I am well pleased with the results.
