ORIGINAL: Traceman

Very informative post. This is along the lines of what I want to do. How much more to go with the gear drive set-up? My bike has 8000 miles. Do you think everything else should be in good shape that has mileage conditions?

Sorry to rob the post
Traceman
With only 8000 miles you could get by without the mileage conditional parts. I would inspect everything and if there are unacceptable signs of wear, replace it. I forgot to mention the inner cam bearings should be changed to Torrington bearing while in there.

If we do the heads, we offer Gear drive cams for approximately $550-$600 (depends on cam selection and availability).

American Iron magazine has a two part article (last month and this month) on a Twin cam 95" upgrade. Pretty good artice.

This is just my opinion, and others may disagree. To me it's worth a little extra to go ahead with a gear drive set up. An absolute must if this a bike you plan on having a long time. I had 20K on mine when I did a cam swap, and both tensioners were in real bad shape. I just took out a set of the SE203's and went with the Kuryakyn Wild Things TC2G's. I am well pleased with the results.
