One of the guys from the shop came by my house with the shop trailer and picked up my bike yesterday and took it back to the shop. Hopefully they can clear up the problem today so I can have my bike for the weekend. Haven't gone for a long ride in a coupe weeks and I'm starting to get pretty antsy.

At least I live in SoCal where I can ride pretty much year-round. We have a rainy season Jan-March, but it doesn't really rain all that much here. Well except for this year when we got three feet of water dumped on us in a couple months!

Alright, you guys are going to farking love this!!!!!

Are you ready!? This is why my machine stalled and wouldn't start up......wait for it......I WAS OUT OF GAS!

Couldn't believe it! I told my mechanic that I pushed my bike side to side and heard the gas sloshing around and when I turned the petcock to the reserve position, it still wouldn't start....he said I may be missing a hose that connects the reserve tank and that's why it's not working. I figure the reserve valve opening may be clogged, which is why the bike wouldn't start. When your main fuel level gets too low, there won't be enough fuel to get past the bung and into the petcock valve.

He said the carb was free from any clogging.......two different mechanics took it for test drives and it's running fine, apparantly......they are washing my bike with soap and water as we speak. I'll have it for this weekend.....now all I have to do is check out the reserve valve.

what a pisser!

I have heard of the petcock missing the extension that serves the main opening on the valve and this would cause the tank to be completely empty when you switch to the reserve setting but never heard of a "HOSE", besides you say that you heard gas sloshing around so that eliminates this senario.

Just for the heck of it, close the petcock and remove the fuel line from it. Now put something under the petcock to catch the fuel and open it to the reserve position and see if it flows fuel, very curious!!!

I'tell ya, these dealers/tecks are scarey and really think we are all stupid and they are the only "smart" ones. ( but yet they cant fix anything more than an OBVIOUS part MISSING)

Keep us posted.

I probably misspoke when I said hose......he was referring to the extension that serves the main opening....but, the bike hasn't been run on the reserve for a long time, so I'm sure that's clogged up right now. In another thread someone referred to the evils lurking in the reserve tank when you don't use it very often.
