High oil pressure
I recently installed 103 big bore kit on my '07 ultra classic using the H-D shop manual. Upon start up I notice that I have in excess of 40 lbs of oil pressure. In the trouble shooting guide in the shop manual it suggests that the pressure relief valve is stuck open. I took the bike apart again and took the cam door to my mechanic to check out and the relief valve and cam door are ok. has anyone else experienced this type of problem? Any suggestions?

What did he check it with, did he have a releif checker from Jims or did you just pull out the piston and spring, I did a freinds cam swap and had the same thing and his door as you call it wouldn't open until 76lbs and it suppose to open at 42, the releif was sticking, you can see it on the piston itself where it was scuffing, he had to replace the cam plate with the new SE plate that they offer, sounds like the same thing to me, his was a 07 model to.

I had a gauge on my bike for a while. I also have an increased pressure spring installed. When I first start my bike when cold, the oil pressure is definitely over 40psi at idle, but onces the oil warms up it drops down into the normal range it should be in: 8-12 while idle and 30+ cruising.
I'm also running Redline oil, so HD oil would be a tad 'thicker' when cold.
Are you sure you have a problem?
