Default Do I really need to re-tune and dyno AGAIN!?

I just installed V&H headpipes on my 08 street glide. This is an upgrade from the stage one kit that was already installed. My stage one kit originally consisted of the rhinehart slip ons, screaming eagle air intake and having the bike tuned and dyno with the screaming eagle super tuner. The dealer said I could put the pipes on myself and ride it to the shop since it was already tuned once but recommended I get it retuned. Do I really need to do this? They want $400 bucks everytime...

Yep, if you want it to run at it's best.

Will it hurt anything if I don't? It's running great now.

What kind of V&H headpipes did you install?

I doubt it....If it were me, I'd install a fresh set of plugs and monitor them to make sure it wasn't running too lean.

No, but a dyno tune is necessary to make sure all is right with the world. You might be surprised and find that you lost some TQ; the factory head pipes are pretty good hardware. The tuners in my area that tune a bike will re-tune for upgrades and charge dyno time only since it is not a full on, start from scratch tune. Most will charge $50 for a couple of pulls just to check AFR and if that looks good, your done. Negotiate with the tuners.

yes just a pipe change you could ride it to the dealer but the afr must be checked. also your bike is a 08 do you have it in close loop or open lopp if ts in closed loop you might be fine just the way it is dont know what map they ran or started with or how good of a tuner they are . but you have a pretty wide margin if its in close dloop. i would not run it in the dead of summer but with the temps as cool as they are you will be fine.

Thanks all. I'm going to call the dealer and see if I can get a better deal on the dyno.
