Yet another head modification question
I was wondering if there is any performance advantage in a modified SE head over a modified stock 96" head. One has a oval combustion chamber, the other a spherical one. What I want to know is, if each were redone to equal specs would the differences in combustion chamber shape effect the performance outcome? If so, which one would be better for a 106" build?

We like to use a 20* J&E piston with the S/E, and machine the same angle into the head, for a good squish.
The OE castings can have that done as well, but you already have the 106" pistons(?) which are flat tops, which will work with the OE head.
Once both sets of heads are done, would see about equal side/side results.

You could mill and work the stock heads to match the features of the SE heads, but the labor costs wouldn't be worth it. Just be sure to have the SE heads ported by a competent machinist, or settle for less and save $$$ by having the stock heads ported.
