Sorry for the late response, I'm an over the road trucker, and it's hard to type and drive at the same time..lol.

Thanks hillside: This afternoon, I'll get some pics of the pistons. On your point about the difference between the front and back... Is it possible through timing to get those cylinders "even"? Many adjustable ignitions like twin tec have a rear cylinder offset adjustment.. Always wondered about that.

Sedeluxe: When the build was new, there was some serious pinging at first... but was same day fixed when I remapped the timing tables way, way back. High Compression no like-ie aggressive timing! Here are the tables.

are you going to be going with the same set up that you have had before???
i would clean those heads up before install then re-tune just tto be on the safe side. you may be close but some engins are very fineky and close does not cut it some times...
also what cam did ya run??
and compression???
might want to take some off the compression with a thicker gasket .

Am I reading those maps correctly? They appear to go up to 7500rpm!

SEDELUXE: Yes, same mill again. Pistons and cylinders are sitting on the floor right now, fresh from Cycle Rama. It's a 95 with CR Pistons (10.5-1), Cylinders, Cams (don't have the specs on those, but it isn't huge), 44-cv, SE intake, Comectic .030 gasket set, Jims Compression Releases, Heads redone by CR, CR lifters, Twin Tec ignition. When I get the heads back, you can bet your children they will be like new before they go back on.

I'm not messing around this time... It's only money right? As soon as it's together, I'm breaking it in on the way to the dyno out at Winchester Virginia (http://www.skipscycles.com/). They come highly recommended, and not bad at 295.00.

Nathanw: Yea, it gos that high... but it's set to cut off the RPMs at 5700. I stay in the 2 to 4 grand range when I ride.

Well, sorry it took so long. Here are pictures of the pistons. at this point, they have about 5 grand on them. They are pretty carboned up... so it looks like she was running pretty rich. have a look. One on the left is front tub, right is back tub.

rich and timing way off.
are you going to re-use the same map you need a tuner who can tune better.
it also may look like you had some oil misting up there were the rings saling correctly>??????
for 5 thousand mils they should not look like that i wonder if you had an intake leak and they tried to compensate with fuel and timing when tuning your bike....
