Besides changing the look, do they have any effect on performance or sound? My pipes are coming in with Kerker caps installed...just wondering and tired of sifting through threads. Thanks!

ok, so how will tapered center caps perform compared to slash up, downs, or fishtails? the kerker tapered ones are on these now.

i'm obviously looking for the best performing ones and something that gives me a good, loud, deep rumble..

 

Tapered probably the best, fishtails likely the worst.

 

They are only there for looks and so the manufacturer can make one muffler work for different customers. I would be most surprised if they affect performance, as that is all sorted in the main body of the muffler.

 

You likely would be surprised if you tried some comparisons.

I've had noticable difference swapping from tapered to slash cut with same brand slip-ons before. Tapered were the best for sure. Open for free flow yet a slight bit of added back pressure.

Fishtails are known for being for "looks only", and having the least performance.

We are not talking huge differences here, but noticable non the less.

 

wow it made such a big difference in power that it blew the bike apart!!!!!
