Red face any thoughts on this combo...

Hi Guys, having used a pc3 with SE pipes on my older RK, I wanted to go "with the flow" when I got my Dyna a couple of years ago and installed V&H bigshots an SE "heavy" breather and managed it with a fuelpack, now this set up is prettly loud compared with my old RK and due to the engine size may be (but dont feel it) a bit quicker. certainly the PC3 on the king made that bike noticeably "livelier" in the 50 - 80 area, (I had a map preinstalled by Jamie a FM).
I like to do the installs myself so try to avoid dealer flashes etc and now I have a new 2010 Street Glide to work on. Having ridden japs and italian sportsbikes I didnt get into harleys to simply go fast, and dont agree that noise always equates to more speed, it simply "sounds" faster IMO.
What I considered was installing the new SE fatshots which appear to resemble supertrapp exhausts I have seen and may not be to noisy and give me perhaps a bit more on the throttle. As far as breathing goes I may choose the ness BS or the SE version, either way I would like to keep my stock breather cover this time...
Now for ECM upgrade, I like the idea of dialing something straight in to the stock unit which I understand can be got from the SERT, does this SERT also increase the rev range??
I would also appreciate if anybody could tell me where to locate one to purchase where I can also gain a bit more info....
Thanks for any help...stay safe out there.
Cheers

You can purchase a SERT from your dealer but you really need to know what you are doing to optimize tune with the SERT; not what I would call user friendly. Take a look at the TTS Mastertune; same guys that developed the SERT developed the TTS. I am not a tuner but it is my understanding that the TTS has a V-Tune mode that allows some self tuning that will dial things in fairly close. Then you can put her on the dyno and fine tune. Either the SERT or the TTS will allow re-setting the rev limiter.

If dyno services are not readily available or capable tuners lacking, you should take the SERT off your list; probably the TTS as well and look at the TMax with the auto tune feature.

I have been doing some researching on the SERT also. My understanding is it needs to be programed by a dealer and then a dyno run. Have you thought about a TTS ? With a laptop you program your fuel map and with the TTS it has a auto-tune feature. Not necessary to have a dyno, unless you need that extra 5%. Give Jamie a call ,he sells the TTS. He could work up a package deal, pipes,a/c, programmer. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for responses Guys, this place always comes up with practical stuff.
I guess I might see how the TTS differs from a PCv as if its that type of add on I would like to something I have tried before (albeit it that was a pc3 in that instance).
Thanks again.

I went with the Ness BS over the the SE setup and regret it. The backing plate on the ness product is very cheaply made, and WAY overpriced in my opinion

If you are looking for a good builder/tuner in your area, well at least in your country, go to: http://www.powerglides.co.uk/ and ask for Boz. If you talk to him, tell him I said hello.

Default update

.....thanks for the great thoughts Guys, I think in the back of my mind I was already travelling down one route, on reflection seeing as this is not a "major" upgrade and is simply a brathing and tuning exercise I plan to stick essentially with what I know. I plan to get on those carbon cans at fuel moto subject to queery I have made with regard to durabillity of the billetr end caps, match this withan SE breather behind the stock cover and match it all up with a PCv leaving the o2 sensors etc in place.

i will update this thread as things progress....
Thanks again
