Default deceleration issue 2006 FLHTC

Recently noticed a somewhat minor "knocking" sound in my engine. couple days back i ran my flh up to 90 mph and bike started decelerating without letting off on the throttle.

Stage I breather kit and Samson slip-ons installed day one. last fall replaced samsons w/ V&H slip-ons and have not "remapped". bike was 4 yrs. old last Nov. and has 30K miles. Synthetic oil changed at 2.5K interval after 1K "break-in".

Someone please tell me there is a simple explanation for this performance (or lack there of) issue and that my bike doesn't need "open heart surgery"!!
