Default Compression Release Recommendations ?

103" owner opinions are that I should go ahead and have compression releases installed when I get my 103" stage II work done. Being right at the 10:1 cr I may not need them all the time but they may come in handy. Should I get manuals or automatics ? I see SE manuals for about $75, Vulcan Works on ebay for $46, Goodsons for $55/shipped and generics for $36. I also have access to Jims for about $81/pair and Engineering Total Performance for $42/pair. H-D autos (2) with harness would be about $120. Input ?? Troop

Goodson manuals. Work good so far and no electronics to malfunction.

I got mine from a small engine parts outlet. They were originally for a Stihl concrete saw. They work great and cost me $18.00 for the pair.

Manuals. I run the Goodsons- I like 'em because the tops are carbon fiber, and don't burn your finger prints off when you push them down. Downside (if you call it that) is that I think they're kind of weak. I could almost use a stiffer unit.

Ok, that is good to know. I was lookng at the Goodsons until it showed $15.84 to UPS them 140 miles. I understand handleing fees but they can be shipped much cheaper than that. I sent them an email to see if they supply to any local power equipment shops. I may just go with the SE units (newer black tops) at the time of the build. Maybe they'll warranty tem

Nothing wrong withthe ACRs and the newer bikes are prewired for them, but...I still am old skool and would put in manuals. I am not one to haggle over price, hell, you gotta pay for machining anyway so put in some good ones.

Good advice and I might add that I have used the chainsaw releases with no problems but they only have 1/2 inch of threads compared to most others like the better goodson units that have 3/4 inch of threads. And by all means, at 10 to1 install them and have peace of mind on a hot day and save your starter a lot of grief.

I have no problem paying for good ones but $16 shipping for a 4oz package is extreme. They STILL are cheaper than the SE's thru my dealer tho, even at 20% off. I can get these thru my bro-in-law for $40 and put on my own end caps and I have some neat ones laying around
