Default intank fuel filter

I just changed the intank fuel filter 0n my 05 Roadking. All went well, except when I went to screw the canopy down. I noticed that the left side sits about 1/8 inch above the mounting ares. The manual says to hold the canopy down & install the screws. Should there be some pressure on the pump/filter assembly? The engine started & runs fine, but I am worried that pressure on the fuel filter/pump may cause problems later on. I checked & the float for the fuel gauge is in the proper location. I could not see any issues inside the tank. I am sure that I did not bend anything when I removed or reassembled.
