Default Cam Swap Recommendation

I’m looking for some educated opinions on what cams I could use to replace my Kuryakyn WT26’s that would bring my sweet spot down in the rpm range. The WT26’s just seem to turn on a little late for my liking. Once the r’s are up she screams pretty good but I’d like to have more down low even if I have to sacrifice a bit on top. I don’t want to get too wild with the compression, even though I have 93 octane available here (MI) I do tour with this bike and know it’s not always available. I was thinking maybe the Woods BW-8BG or the R&R 615 but I'm hoping for some input from those more experienced/knowledgeable than myself.

Here's my current build.

05 Eglide
98” (stock cylinders)
CP 10cc domed pistons cut to 6cc
Wild Things TC-26G cams
HPI 48mm throttle body
10.5 comp (0deck) 9.17 corrected – 185.4 CCP (800’ASL)
48mm HPI throttle body
Heads fully ported for the cams 84cc (1.9 in/1.625ex.)
Comp releases
3:37 gears
D&D Fatcat
TMAX

Here's some specs on the cams I have and 2 of them I'm considering.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Rick

The 8 would be our choice.

Hard to believe you are lacking on the bottom with 3.37 gearing. Who ported the heads? As I undertand things, there are not many porters that truly understand the porting technique required to get the most out of those cams. I have heard that Bob Bishop is the guy for porting for those cams, or use the Kuryakyn heads. Just passing on what I learned from researching those cams for a build.

Consider throwing the TMan 590 in the mix with the others.

I agree, if the exhaust to intake flow ratio is too high for a certain cam it will drive heat into the engine and ping.

Neither of the cams you list are going to make a significant change in where your power comes on. If you really want more power earlier, you need an intake closing number much lower than the cams you're looking at.

The porter is pretty experienced with these cams. Maybe it's just the nature of these cams. I was just hoping for a bit more down low. I'm thinking I may dump the TMAX and go with TTS and a good tune and see how that turns out.

Thanks,
Rick

Which in turn drives up the CCP, correct?

Thanks,
Rick

Any particular reason to pick the 8 over the 26's?

Thanks,

A couple of recommendations that would work well for you...The HQ 575 or T-Man 590. If you really want to move the torque lower, there are others that will move the curve further to the left, but you have to watch the CCP that you may get with your build and a cam with an earlier intake closing.

It would like that compression, and has historically shown it's ability of striking hard of the bottom, and producing a big broad torque curve.
