Default Milling heads

Anyone know off hand what the max amount of material can be milled from stock heads and still keep the stock valves ?

dont really understand question(??),what do valves got to do with it?unless your thinking on milling them so much your getting into the seat(??).are you talking how much untill valve to piston contact? that would be up to your TDC lift on your cam

Valves aren't the issue; valve to piston clearance is. I am not sure of the absolute maximum and like prodrag says, TDC lift will determine that. For the average build, I would think anything over .060" starts to get valves pretty close to the pistons.

Valve to piston clearance was what I was referring to, it just didn't get typed that way.
Just wanted to know what the highest compression ratio I could get without a valve to piston clearance problem.

My apologies.

That's a whole other kettle of fish. Now you are getting into valve timing as well. You need to step back and start at the beginning.

Guess I'm gonna step way back, but I know what you're talking about when you mentioned timing. Gonna check the manual for the amount of clearance that is listed on a stock cylinder/piston setup.

What does valve timing have to do with taking material the heads?
