Default Cam?

I've searched and read so many posts on cams that i'm more confused now than ever. I've got an 09SG with samson 2-1, se heavy breather and a tts, I ride 2 up 90% of the time and am wanting more torque. Have just about ruled out the se255 because of it raising the comp and possible hot start issues, what would be a good cam to use, am planning to go to a 107 later and will buy new cams if needed for it.

Tman TR 525 or a TR 590 g if you plan on going 107

Andrews 21 is what Joe Minton from American Rider claims is the best to use in a 96,I really like how my 09 works with this choice.

An Andrews 26, OR, if your going to 107" later, then a Wood 7H, with a 4* advance gear, and then pull the advance gear when you bore the cylinders.

Look at cam specs; the sooner it closes the intake, the sooner the power comes on, i.e. low-end torque. Andrews' 21 is their best cam for low rpm torque. What that means is that you can pass on the highway at 70, two-up, without having to downshift.
As to the SE255; those specs are very strange. I know I just said the sooner the intake closes the sooner the power comes on, but 25 degrees??? Don't know of any other cam that closes anywhere near that soon. I have no idea how that cam works, but my best guess would be that the Andrews 21 would be a whole lot better.

You are going to get a zillion suggestions. I am only going to comment on what you asked and not on what is in the future.

HQ 500 or Andrews 21 for real down low torque, HQ 525 raises the bar just a bit meaning torque comes on a few hundred rpm later but carries out further. These three cams are purely bolt ins and in a lot of cases will not require retuning and will provide nice torque gains.

I have a 2003 RKC ,103 se ported heads ,9.5 to 1, andrews 21 cams and the torque from idle to 4000 is what the bike should have had from the factory. I can run any fuel thats presently available riding two up in the hills. Tuned at Thunder Cycles Edmond Ok.

Take a good look at Head Quarters. Particularily the HQ-575. You can get it in chain or gear drive. You will not have issues with hard starting and they will pull progressively harder and harder all the way up to redline. I have the HQ-0039. It's almost identical to the 575. It's the best decision I ever made for performance and gas mileage.

PS....I can run two up @ 70 MPH in 6th gear (OD) and not have to downshift to pass. I can creep past my "passee" or run past my "Passee" in 6th gear. At 70 miles per hour my thottle position is only at 3-4%. Not bad for a 95" motor.

If you typically do not rev past 4k, 21's. Otherwise, 26's. Even in my 88", the 21's with a 2n1 made a nice performance bump, especially for 2up. Will leave them in when I can do the 95" bore kit.
