Default exhaust gaskets

How do you install them on a 96 c.i. Twin Cam? ANY help would be appreciated.

Pretty simple. Use a pick to get the old ones out and then push the new ones in. They should slide in fairly easily. Be careful not to distort the new ones when you push them in the head.

They are not fitting in. I'm fairly good with my hands so this isn't a clutz thing. If they should slide in then I got defective parts.

Well, let me say this.... the first time I changed exhausts, I got the SE gaskets and they were a bitch to get in. Had to really work them to get them in. When I did my big bore upgrade, I just replaced with the regular gaskets and they slid in really easy. Which are you using? The SE's had a bit of a taper to them where the regular gaskets were flat all around.

I luckily bought two sets because of Murphy's Law. Two are in the freezer and when I just went in my shop and tried the one I had tried, it's closer to going in but its been out in the cold like the bike now.

Yeah, those were tough for me too. Just be patient and work them in a little at a time.

Thanks for the input man, but they stop and then you're gonna screw up that thinner tapered side that you need to push on to get them in. Just tried one from the freezer, they hadn't been in there too long, it was a little better but stiil no cigar. They need to beseated against the inside of the head all the way I would think?

Yep, they should be seated against the lip inside the port. I think I used a screwdriver turned around. Placed the handle against the gasket and lightly tapped it in. Probably not the best thing to do, and probably why I went back to the standard ones. Good luck....
