Default Mikuni HSR42 problem

When the motor is running, gas runs out the vents on the carb. Kind of an all of a sudden problem as the bike has been fine prior. The first time it occured I tore down the carb as I figured it was a bad needle-seat assembly. There was no visible dirt, it has clean fresh gas and it is ridden regularly. I noticed like a discolored ring on the rubber tip of the needle and upon reassembly I reversed the position of the needle on the float tab. Took it for a spin and it was fine then started it up again a few days later and gas again is flooding out the carb vents while the motor runs. The bike is an 02 EGC. I am going to replace the needle-seat assembly but can someone with more experience offer any other ideas. Thanks in advance. Ride Safe. Doug

I ain't no Mikuni pro tuner by all means. But perhaps it's your float that's not properly adjusted. Check with your manual for proper settings.
