Possible Rip Off?!!!
Ok guys here it is. I had what I thought was a 103 big bore kit installed in my 08 Road King this month and upon oiling my original cylinders in order to keep them from rusting i located an instruction sheet for Twin Cam 88 Big Bore Conversion Kit part #16546-99. Would it have been possible for them to have put the wrong kit on my bike. Knowingly or unknowingly? Also through inspection of my old pistons I noticed a heavy build up of carbon. I realize they will have some carbon, but this looks excessive....what causes this? I would appreciate any input possible ASAP as I am calling the dealership first thing in the morning to try to get some light shed on this.

Mike,
Maybe someone else will chime in, but I believe the 103 cylinders are the same height to convert either an 88 or a 96 to 103. If you do the 88 you have to install the longer crank which the 96 already has.

A 96" is the bore of the 88" with a stroker crank. The 103 is the same as a 95" which is 3.875 you get the 103 by having the stroker crank that is in the 96" bike. The kit is the same for 95" & 103". Heavy carbon isn't unusual considering they vent the rocker box area into the induction module.

Yep, 95 and 103 is built using the same cylinders.

So the cylinders for the 95" and 103" kit for TC88's are the same, and are both the same as the 103" kit for a TC96. Only difference being the 103 for the TC88 comes with the stroker crank, correct?
