Default SE Exhaust 65115-98B

I just purchased an '06 Road King Custom fuel injected. I had the dealer add the SE ECM download, the SE Mufflers (65115-98B) and the SE Air cleaner kit 29440-99C. Overall I am pleased with the performance of the bike. But the sound from the pipes just doesnt seem loud enough. I was wondering if there is anything that could be done to the mufflers to make them louder, without necessarily compromising the engine.

I previously had a 2001 883 XL Custom Sportster, with 2 into 1 hooker exhaust, and it sounded better than my new bike, so I am a little dissapointed. Thanks for your help.

The older they get the louder they'll become. They'll never be loud as V&H Ovals but they will increase over time. I have the same slip-ons and just did a 95" kit and they're even louder now. I'm ALMOST to the point on thinking they're too loud (for me). I'm going to have to start wearing ear plugs... [:@]

I agree with phil, put some miles on the bike. After a couple of road trips, freeway speeds, pulling hills or mountains, the pipes will open up. If your still not happy with the sound, try installing some aftermarket baffles. Big City Thunder makes replacement baffles for SE II mufflers: http://www.bigcitythunder.com/pages/product-fit.html

Peace!

Same mufflers with True Dual headers (eliminating the Factory Crossover System) will be a little louder!

Default Time tested

My 2004 Electra Glide Classic included these SE 65115-98B's $380 at the time. I have now had these pipes for 11 years, together with a K & N high flow air cleaner. They do get louder with time but not so much as to bother you. Rather, they add to the smile on your face. Still happy after all these years.

'04 Electra Glide Classic with SE 65115-98B pipes. K&N air cleaner w/ custom cover.
