Big Sucker Air Filter
I've been running the Arlen Ness Big Sucker for several years on my '04 FXDLI. I always assumed the filter itself was a K&N. I've had a local Indy doing my maintenance for me over the past few years. I decided this time to do the fluid change myself. In the process I pulled and washed the air filter. There was almost no oil in it. You know the red stuff that you normally find in the K&N filter. I went ahead and re-charged it with the K&N kit but then I got to thinking maybe it is a different type of filter. A replaceable one instead of the 100,000 mile re-chargeable one. I went to the Arlen Ness website and although there is plenty of information on the kits, they don't specifically have any instructions on the maintenance of the filter.
My main concern is, if this is a K&N type filter, why was there almost no oil in it. Or is it a filter that needs replacing every so many miles. By the way, there was almost no dirt in it when I washed it and I am concerned it may not have been oiled from the very beginning and if that's the case, it wasn't doing anything in the way of filtering.
Any help appreciated.

Similar to K&N filter.
I have run ANBS since 2004 and always treated em just like a K&N filter.
I recently switched to a K&N just because the quality is a little better, however couldnt find on to fit the 2009 ANBS so went with the HD-800. Had to drill the holes myself and block the others up with rubber grommits and silicone adhesive. Works just fine.
I like to have two filters so one is always clean and oiled in a poly bag ready to go back on. I know its not necessary but I like a clean filter on every oil change (5000 miles).
