Default 1998 Sporster 883 Can you recommend and easy Air cleaner upgrade?

My stock air cleaner (1998 Sportster 883) has been damaged. I can repair it but thought maybe I'd spend a little more and get a new air cleaner with better breathing capabilities.

I have searched web sites and am having a hard time being confident with the options I have found.

Can anyone recommend an easy bolt on aftermarket aircleaner that will breathe well? and won't require carb rejetting or other carb mods?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

The only REAL AC worth getting is the Hurricane AC from NRHS Performance. THey specialize in the XL platform.

If you get a better breathing air cleaner, you'll need to richen the carb to compensate. K&N makes one that will fit inside the stock cover.

Default K&N filter

Yes, K&N filter HD-1388 is available as a replacement for the stock filter. So, do you think I will need to enrichen the carb after switching to a K&N?

I think you will need to richen it up, you should notice the increase in performance.

Some drill some 3/4" holes in the backplate (outside of the filter) to allow more air into the A/C assembly.

If you want a better breathing AC and engine in general, then your going to have to rejet or enrichen the carb, plain and simple.
