SE 103 or aftermarket cams/reworked heads
Well, after conducting several searches on this forum it looks like the majority of folks here would rather install cams from: HeadQuarters, Andrews, Woods, or S&S, etc and have their heads done by a reputable shop, rather than go the route of the dealers many Screaming Eagle 103 kits. Would a set of cams from any of the ones I have mentioned here along with some massaged heads walk all over a good 103 kit from the MoCo ? I have a 2008 Street Glide and dealer is nagging me every time I come near the dealership. What kind of hp/torque can a person honestly expect from a set of aftermarket cams and reworked heads along with mufflers and intake/filter of course compared to a common Screaming Eagle 103 kit stage 2 ? Sorry for the long post fellas, just love pickin everyone's brain here, especially the horsepower gurus.

A well built and tuned aftermarket build will in most cases outperform a HD build, and usually by quite a bit. Go to www.head-quarters.com and look at their kit builds, each lists expected horsepower and torque.

Having your cylinders bored to a set of pistons, heads worked, and compression set up for the cam your going to run. All matched together by a reputable builder who has your bike and riding style in mind. WILL outperform a bunch of parts haphazardly pulled off of a shelf and slapped together by a dealer.
Most anyone here with a hillside, headquarters, or (insert other professional builder here) build will tell you that Screaming Eagle tastes like chicken.... MMM MMM....

go with an aftermarket build and a good builder -- the price is not going to be that different but the performance will be in a different world.
My HQs 107 stomps my two buds SE 110's, one so bad he went back and got a HQs 113.
If you do any build at this time your warranty is out the window -- do it the best you can the first time.
Do not go for the "we will warranty it" dealer BS; don't ask me how I know.
check out the following S&S, AMS, Hillside, GMR, Zippers, and a couple of others out there--not much $$ difference in the 103 vs. 107 maybe $110

for some reason the HP/TQ numbers on TBW bikes are always lower--

I'd never go with a package from one of my local dealers. The independent builders are former employees of those dealers and now have much more performance and racing experience, as well as one having been trained by ex-HD racing/NASCAR builders. Oh yeah, they cost less too! I'm at 101.7 HP with 95" cylinders...

I'm about to compare apples to oranges here, but I'll answer your questions. I'm on my 2nd 103" build (in the same bike). My 1st one was a SE Stage II build- 103" SE Flat Top Cast Pistons, Bored Stock Jugs, SE 255 Cams, SE Heavy Breather, V&H Big Radius pipes, PCIII. Made 82/102. Swapped to Wood TW6G-7 cams, added Baisley Super Stock Heads, FatCat (std baffle). Made 98/109.

I have to correct myself here.....I'm now on my 3rd 103" build in this bike. I made some changes this week, and picked it up from tuner today. I currently have Baisley Heads, SE 103" Flat Tops, Bored Stock Jugs, T-Man 590 cams, SE Heavy Breather, Fat Cat, tuned with a PCIII. Makes 107.35/107.78 (SAE).
