Default installing samson baffles

i have 33 inch samson fishtail pipes on my 03 roadking0 the pipes are wide open and I just got the 10 inch samson internal baffles I"m going to install them to reduce some noise and create some back pressure- the baffles are like cheese graters- they are rough / sharp in one direction and smooth in the other direction. There is a screw hole at one end of the baffle that serves to secure it in place once it is inside the exhaust pipe- does anyone know which direction the baffle should be mounted in the exhasut? Rough edges of the baffles towards the heads or towards the rear of the exhaust pipe?

99% of the time the screw goes towards the back of the pipe. How you getting baffles in fishtails?

Through the slip on open end I would imagine. Let me know how this works out and how your sound changes as I am curious about this and have had quite a few people ask me how this will change the sound. Obviously it will muffle it a bit, but they wnat to know if the decel sound will cease to exist.

HG, i only asked as the touring pipes are tapered at the inlet.. Unless the fishtails are just removable caps, i dont see it happening?

the end that has the rod through it goes in first. your pipes should already have two holes for the baffles the secure it.

it will really help you if you prep the baffles. a little fine sanding, any imperpections that raise up, will cause some resistence. a little w/40 helps. i made a steel scrap pipe that i put a 1/4 or so indent so you can minipulate through the baffle in its final spot. if you dont its hell to get it out or even twist it.
hope that helped??

I have never tried to slip baffles in my pipes, but it seems to me that they would slide right in. I guess they are tapered so they can fir over the header piece. I'll find out when I pull my old samson's out of the box and have a look at them.
