They can be cleaned. What kind were they that they are sticking in 6k miles. Mine have over 9k on them with no problems.. Was your bike tuned?

Sometimes, you can just hold them down for a few seconds while running to try and clean 'em out a bit as well.

unless you are running over 10.5:1 compression you dont need eather one.
I'm running 10.5:1 compression and i have no need for compression releases
save your money and your fingers. Oh man I forgot that I put the 1.4 kw
starter on my bike but that was a big waste of my money, Oh well.

I was under the same assumption when I built my motor (10.2-1 CR) but since I was already having the heads done I decided to have the releases installed. Man am I glad I did. On a hot restart my stock starter sounds like a coffee grinder if I forget to set them..

It is, if nothing else, a good last resort, one more time, kind of thing.

I finally found out that my hot starting problems, and I hate that, was caused by too much cranking fuel.

Most people were saying not enough so I went with that far awhile and then one day with the SERT cut a bold move across the board with cranking fuel.

Fired right up.

Minnor adjustments with the numbers there, IAG steps and warmup and easy now. Cross my fingers.
