Default CV Carb question

When I bought my 95 glide the carb had been doctored. I rebuilt it and installed a CV performance kit. The bike runs great. The only complaint is between 1000 and 2000 rpms. It has a lack of power or a slight bog off the line. 2000 and up is great. The plugs look great the bike runs beautiful down the road. The bike gets great MPG. Lookking for advice or is this normal. The only other thing I noticed is the warmer the bike is the higher the idle is. Warm it idles about 800 rpms hot is 1000 rpms.

1000 is the correct idle speed. Much lower, and the oil pressure at idle is border-line low when engine is up to temps. So that is perfectly normal for the rpm to raise that much from cold to operating temps.

The problem with your lower rpms would be the needle position and/or the needle diameter. Some of this can often be corrected with adjustment of the idle mixture screw and/or the idle jet size. Sometimes raising the needle either by moving the clip (on an adjustable) or adding shims under a stock type needle.

Questions:
Has the hole in the bottom of the slide been drilled to 1/8 ?
What size jets are in it?
Is the needle an adjustable, or solid 1-piece type?

The hole has been drilled to I believe 1/8". The kit came with a new needle and I don't think it offered multiple clip positions. I am not sure on jet size. I believe the pilot jet was a 44 or 45 and the main jet was a 176. The bike runs great and has lot of power. It is just that 1000 to 2000 range. There are no pops or anything else. Do you think raising the needle would help? I guess the question is there too much or too little fuel in that 1000 to 2000 range. I am going to try messing with the mixture first I guess.

It's a tick lean in the lower mid-range. Drilling the slide, with no other changes on a perfectly jetted bike will make them a little lean in that area.

You are probably good on the jets unless it's got a big cam. Some kits come with thin washers (3) and usually 2 will do it right. If the kit didn't have them, whatever you add shouldn't be over .050 thick (total).

Try 3 to 3 1/2 turns on the mixture first, if that doesn't do it, shimming the needle would be the next step.

Try a 46 slow jet first and readjust the air/fuel. It's the easiest thing to do. Before opening up the top of the carb and all.
