My 99 Ultra had been sitting in the garage for a month with out being started when I decided to last week. When I started it for about a second I heard valve noise. Anyone experienced this, starting of a problem? It only has 15k on it. Bought it last year.

 

100% normal, the lifters bleed down it takes a bit for them to pump back up.

 

Thanks for the reply. Have had a black cloud over me for the past few months. Everything that can go wrong has tried. Won't worry about this now.

 

It will take more than a second for the lifters to pump up.
Check the oil level then start it and let it idle for about 3 minutes.Go for a short ride.
If the lifters are still clacking,then there may be issues.

 

It's the bikes way of saying "you don't ride me enough". My 01 does the same thing if it sits for 3 or more days.
