Help!! Rinehart True Duals exhaust gasket problem
Hey - I installed Rinehart True Duals (RHTD) part# 1800-0242 on my 04 RKC a ways back and it seemed that just before every ride i would have to tighten the exhaust flange nuts as they leaked and you would clearly hear the ticking sound coming from them.... Not Good.
I now have the manual and see the correct sequence to tighten and tork them, so i decided to take them down and seen that the front gasket was smashed on the lower nut side and is apparently the cause for the exhaust leak. You could see the black carbon mark in the same area. Rear exhaust gasket was ok, but will also change. Also noticed the 'Circlip' rings are not flat anymore probably due to the constant tightening. So replacing them too.
Here's the new problem at hand... The original HD exhaust pipes have a tappered end that adapts to the tappered stock gaskets that obviously makes a great seal. The RHTD have a flat ring end with no tapper what so ever. If i use the stock gaskets i think i may end up with the same problem. Screaming eagle gaskets are thinner and flat and i don't think they will work for me being i didn't get the stocks one in right...LOL
Anyone have ideas for fixing this issue the right way???
I'm thinking of grinding a slight tapper on the RH rings so they end up going into the gasket like the stock pipes do... Know what i mean?
