Question Ran out of gas with 1/4 tank showing

I have always depended on my reserve, when I ran low on gas I would just switch to reserve and head to a station. I now have a 2005 FLHTI and I ran out of gas and when I looked for reserve there wasn't any and my gauge still showed a little over 1/4 tank left. Has HD stopped putting a reserve valve on EFI engines?? If so why and is there any way to adjust my gas gauge so it will show empty when empty??? If not I guess I will have to gas up before my gauge gets to 1/4.

I use the odometer. It has never failed me.

I don't know that HD ever had a "reserve" valve on EFI engines. As for the gauge not reading accurately, there is a float assembly that the gauge uses, but it's notoriously inaccurate. Use the odometer--it has two settings, and I usually just reset one to "zero" when I refuel.
