whats the best Cams

Seriously mtnroadking, to start getting it together, as others have posted, you have some choices to guide you down the path:
- How much $$$ you gonna spend?
- What engine upgrades you gonna do later down the road?
- Are you doing the labor yourself? (frees up more $$$ for parts).
- What do you want your cam build to do for your performance?
I chose the Screamin Eagle Hybrid Cam Plate- Oil Pump- Hydraulic Tensioners Kit and Andrews 26 cam. Add SE pushrods (which you have to cut out with bolt cutter and replace with adjustable pushrods- or take the gas tank and valve covers off) rental tools, lubes, oil, filter, gaskets, spacers and polished Stainless hardware and it cost me right at $875 (gotta buy this stuff 20% off or add another $150). Gonna need a pretty good tool crib and a good torque wrench(s). I replaced my clutch cable (+8 for apes) while I was in there. You will likely do something different.
After you've studied up a bit, you can plan your build. As you've already read in this thread, there's lots of help available here..... Kuma Ride, Dawg and a lot of others helped me out a lot.

I agree with the riding style comments, I personaly ride a geezer bike and just wanted more torque at the lower end. You can see below what they did to my bike and I am really satisfied with the results. I did not install a sert because of the warrenty issues that comes with it, maybe one of these days I will install one but like I said I am a happy camper with the way the bike performs now..................

HQ0034 or SE 204-my two cents.
My dad had the HQ's in his Road King and they really woke it up. Stock 88,ac,Rhineharts. They make good power down pull and pull all the way to the top. He pulls a trailer every year to Sturgis 2-up, and the difference is very noticeable.
I just finished installing the 204's in my Road King and I'm very pleased. Stock 88,Zippers ac, Bub 7 true duals, PC3. I put the 204's in because they were free (removed them from my Soft tail to try a different cam). From personal experience I would recommend either of these cams. Good luck!

I installed the HQ-0034's 2 years/20K miles ago and haven't thought about a 95" build since. My bike is a stock 88 with Rinehart True Duals and SE a/c. Great manners, excellent fuel economy, but runs stronger than the SE 95"/203 cam builds, and at least as well as 95's with street ported heads, etc.
Just cams and your bike runs like that?

do a search on cam articles and look at www.bigboyzcycles.com for almost all cam specs.. click on calculator then camshafts. the chart will help you see whats what and compare them.
also our Softail and the Touring section has a tread on (DYNO's) sheets of different cams and pipes combos only at the top of each page. they are STICKY's

I liked the SE211's in my RK. However, now that I know better, the Woods 6 along with a few other little goodies as suggested, would be the way i would proceed if I still had it. After 3 HD's, I've grown tired of SE parts, and suggest going with Woods cams. WOW! what a difference. The key is research and getting the right combination. GMR, Old Gunny, or Sedeluxe can steer you in the right direction.
