Default Low Oil ????

I have a 09 Ultra that is going in next week for it's 1000 mile service.
I notice last night after riding about 60 mile that the oil level is down, not quite half a quart of oil. Is this normal for a new bike in the break in period?
I have 1045 miles on it. I want to know everyones opinion so I know how to deal with the dealer on this so they don't blow me off if it is something that I should really be concerned about.

Thanks

If you are sure the oil level was completely full and checked it hot on the jiffy stand allowing 4 minutes for the oil to return t the tank, then yes I would have them note it on the work order so you have it documented as a concern. But it is not uncommon for bikes to get underfilled. But some bikes do consume oil on breakin as well. The dealer will tell you "they all do that" but make them note it anyway. I would show them the level before the service if you have not topped it off.

DO make it a point to check your oil & trans oil after your service. Too many stories on here where the tech forgot to put oil back in the bike at a service. I bought a service manual and do all my own oil service.

I went through the same thing on my 08 Heritage after using Syn3 for the 1000 mile service. I got crucified on here by posters. Bottom line was that I changed to Mobil 1 1000 miles ago and haven't used a drop since. It was my thought that the Syn3 was Junk and as far as i'm concerned I proved it to myself.

I broke my bike in on syn3 and then switched to M-1 after that. Syn3 isn't bad but there are just better oils for the same price.
