Default "Soot" on carb inlet?

I put a little too much oil in my 02 883R, so I have been having a bit of oil leaking out of the filter and out onto the crankcase. So I take off the filter so I can wipe some of the excess out of the inside of the air cleaner assembly, and I noticed some black, soot-like residue on the bottom of the carb inlet. I have SE-Pro 2-1 with a stock air cleaner, 7,000 miles. Is this just normal deposits that I need to clean off or are they a symptom of another problem??

It's actually really fine dirt. Filters can only keep the bigger stuff out.
