Default 2009 Ultra Classic Pipes for 2008 UC

Does anyone know if the head pipes from a 2009 Ultra Classic will fit the 2008 Ultra Classic. I have an '09 and my riding buddy likes the way the '09 pipes direct heat away from the passenger compared to his '08. I am not sure if his frame will allow clearance for the cross under pipe for the left side. Anyone had any experience with this swap.

I really doubt it, try ceramic coating the stock headpipes and-or fuel management will greatly reduce the exhaust heat.

Thanks for the reply. I have put the Jackpot dyno tuned mufflers, K&N Stage I, and PC-V with Fuelmoto download on mine and it made a big difference in the heat. Is the ceramic coating a wrap or paint on?

They WILL fit correctly... Providing that the Tail of the transmission case is tapped and threaded for the "Underbelly" strap.....

I have done 2 of them so far, and NO, there are not any clearance issues involved...

Did you drill and tap the transmission case while on the bike, or do you have to pull the trasnmission?

have you (or anyone) turned 09 exhaust into a 2/1?

I was told you had to change the oil pan to a 2009 model to make the cross-under pipe fit. Is that wrong? I purchased a set of 2009 pipes and I want to mount them on my 2007 FLHT. I also bought a 2009 oil pan, based on what I was told. I have not started on the project yet. Can you tell me more about taping the transmission case? Thanks for your help.

Have fun changing that oil pan. I just had mine down on my 01 and it was a PITA.

The 09 system is not a direct bolt on unless you convert it to a 2 into 1 setup. The oil pan on the 2009 is different and the crossover pipe will not fit without modifications to the pipe. I know this because I'm doing it now on my 01 Ultra.

Besides the fact that I think it looks a lot, I'm also doing this swap because my wife frequently get sunburned (for a lack of a better term) on her left ankle from the heat from the pipe.

Other than a tune best way to reduce theheat on the left side significantly is to remove the heat shield and wrap the pipe with header wrap and then reinstall the heat shield. The wrap is barely noticable and the heat reduction is easily noticable.
