2 into 1 pipes

RE: 2 into 1 pipes
Last year I looked into replacing my power-robbing Samson Street Sweepers with a 2-1 system. I almost went with Thunderheader, but I decided on the Python3 2-1. I like Vance & Hines pipes but I do not like the megaphone look in their 2-1 pipe. The Pythons are a nice looking and sounding pipe. Slash cut ends and they are made by Vance & Hines (distributed by Drag Specialties). They are also one of the best performance pipes - right up there with the Supertraps!

RE: 2 into 1 pipes
2-1's are a good move! You can usually tell if someone really knows (or at least cares) about performance.... They will have a good 2-1 exhaust on their bike. You just can't beat the "streetable" performance increase and throttle response over a 2-2 system.
My personal preference is a toss up between the Thunderheader or the V&H Propipe, although the Propipe seems to be of better quality and fit. They both work well. In fact, just about every 2-1 system I've tested worked about the same once the baffles were tuned. They all increase the amount of low to mid range torque while maintaining good power at higher rpms. I like the Propipe for the sound... nice and mellow while cruising, and fairly loud while cranking it on. I've had MANY compliments on how mine sound and how they look.... but then again, that doesn't really matter since it's MY bike, not theirs.
As the others said, it's a matter of what YOU like. Don't forget to put it on a dyno after you change it. That's a necessity if you want it to run well. I wouldn't put too much faith in dyno results from other bikes. They are ok to get a rough idea how certain pipes will perform, but there are a LOT of different factors, including weather, altitude, and the experience of the tuner, that will affect the results.

RE: 2 into 1 pipes
For those of you who may be thinking about the Rinehart 2-into-1 pipes, I found this out yesterday from a distributor.
The model for the Dynas is backordered until the end of June. Haven't called BUB directly yet, but might be able to get them sooner that way.
I may have to go with the V&H Pro Pipe HS for cost and availability. Got to get my bike dynoed soon and it's ridin' time.
