Default stock exhaust gaskets

I've tried installing my new 2:1 Supermegs twice now with the SE gaskets
without any luck. There always seems to be a little leak. The instructions
from Supertrapp say to use the stock HD gaskets to get a better seal. I
know the SE gaskets are less obstructive, but would the stock HD gaskets
really be that bad for performance??

While se gaskets may keep the joint a bit more open, I doubt you would see any worthwhile difference in performance. A bigger issue would be not getting the joint sealed. You gotta do what you gotta do to get it right.

The SE gaskets suck, imo. I've never been able to get a good seal with them. Now I just use the standard H-D beveled ones.

when doing my cams the service mgr told me they use stock gaskets as the SE didn't seal as easy and give them fits so they dont use them now.

The ONLY exhaust gaskets we EVER use are Cometic.
They seal, and do not wad themselves into the exhaust port, creating a restriction.
I suppose on '05 and earlier castings it doesn't matter, as the exhaust port is fuct anyway.

I have always used the SE gaskets, without a problem until this last teardown. Put the Boarzilla back on and had a leak, couldn't get it sealed. Put the stock gaskets in and sealed up fine. As long as you dont overtorque them, they will not wad up into the port.
