I think my 06 is a bit noisey. I have been told the extra noise (compared to a metric bike) is because the metrics have overhead cams. I don't know if this is true or not. Hopefully someone with some knowledge chimes in. But, yes, I notice what I think is valve train noise too. Clicking, ticking, tapping...bike runs great though.

After I put in Andrews 26G cams, mine became noisy. I chased the noise. I listend to the experts that said adjust pushrods this way and that way, I swapped lifters, I added the famous Baisley spring. Nothing helped. That was 4 years ago. Now, I'm used to the noise and don't worry about it.

I have it too and there are 3 things you can do to deal with it.
1. Really loud pipes
2. Run a heavier oil and not the HD synthetic
3. Ear plugs

I do all three

Both of my bike are noisy. One is stock and the other is built and both run great. I guess thats just the nature of the beast.

I have chased noise, (you can tell). I thing this last tapping at 2050-2200 RPM is valve closing. Something to do with harmonics maybe. I'm thru worrying about it.
I think I will use 20-60 Wt Redline now in the summer time though.

Gunny, it looks like you had some engine work done by Wolfgang Grasser in Baytown. If so, are you happy with using him? I grew up in Cleveland, TX close to Houston and Baytown. I live in Dallas now, but I don't know of any reputable builders up here. Thinking of using him when I decide to get the work done. My parents still live in the area.
Just wanted to know if you reccomend him.

thanks
