Valve Train Noise

Since you are a Auto Mechanic picture yourself taking the hood off a diesel pickup and climb on top of the engine, be careful, don't get caught anywhere. Get somebody to drive you around town some while yoi sit there. Will be noisey I bet.

When it gets hot, the gears quieten a bit and the top end gets noisy:

My engine sounds like it's going to fly apart. Been sounding like that for the last 20K miles.

I think a lot of that top end noise is valves closing. A well designed closing ramp could help. Apparentely mine doesn't have that. But I do have strong springs so that may be some of the noise.

mine suddenly seems a lot quieter with that comparison

so a question for you jimmyz
which cams did you like better or should i ask ran better
26g gear drive
or 203 chain drive ?
i'm ready for an upgrade from stock, but i have some learning to do

Also don't forget that sound is reflected and thus amplified by the fairings on a Road Glide, Electra Glide, or a a larger windshield...that makes a big difference.
