Valve Train Noise

Wolfgang does execellent work. Uses best parts. Woods springs valves etc for mine. A real craftsman.
I have been blessed to know three wonderful Machnists so far and he is one of them. They were all German. Well one was Dutch.
One actually was from Germany. Told me, one middle of the night during a factory supervised rebuild on a, "Really Big Expensive Machine". Real interesting story on how young people apprentice to a trade in Europe. Another world.

Great post.....and I thought I was hearing things. I climbed off a Suzuki Volusia with Cobra slash cut drag pipes. I never even heard the engine sounds. I bought my 07 Electra Glide Standard in February. It had 5400 miles. I switched to all Amsoil synthetic. It has Rush slip-ons. It is clickety-clackety. I have been concerned. Runs a bit hot too. Yesterday was our first ride since going with the 02IED and installing two new plugs. I am basically a closed loop rider. Our mileage two up was the best yet at 46.5 mpg. The noise seemed a bit more subdued, and operating heat seemed lower. One bad habit I have, since not being used to the high gearing is letting the rpms drop below 2500. The sweet spot seems to be 2500-3000. Guess I am in the learning curve.
By the way.....I am 52 and can't hear worth a durn....so if I hear the TICK, it really bugs me.
Good read here guys,

thanks for all the posts. my buddies thought i was crazy. guess they have been riding harley's longer and i just came off a rice rocket which are pretty quiet. now even though i am almost deaf in left ear i will run earplugs. i am a auto repair tech and all the noise has had me bothered. this thread gave me some relief.
