I was able to take my first ride of the season today. I recently installed a HSR 42 and have heard about the "rattle". I was wondering what that sounds like. I noticed a sound that sounded sorta like a heat shield on a catalytic converter on a car after it breaks a weld. Is that slide rattle?

 

Sounds like a wood pecker pecking at your carb at an idle. Well maybe not that bad..lol

I got used to mine in about 3 minutes. An easy test is at an idle take off the air filter and push the slide with your finger. If the noise went away, that was the noise....

I was shocked at how much of a difference the carb, air intake and slip-ons made. I've had my bike for a year and this is the first time it felt like the engine was actually performing like it should. First time it felt like a harley. Hit the accelerator in second gear at 2800 rpm and the front got light!

 

It's the slide. They all do it. You'll get used to it.
