Question Looking for cam advice

I have a 2000 deuce, the engine is stock except for a mikuni 42 flat slide, screamin eagle intake manifold and air cleaner, and rush 2 inch slipons. The bike runs and sounds great and I get around 40-42 mpg. I got 26,000 miles and I'm getting ready to put it in the shop for the cam chain tensioners, bearings and all that. I want to have the cam changed also and have been looking at alot of cams & specs. Just looking for a bolt in with a little more in the middle as I do mostly highway riding, nothing crazy, gotta be my daily ride. I've narrowed it down to a SE or Andrews cam, but those numbers are confusing. My bike isn't really that heavy like a bagger so I know that makes a difference. Any advice for you guys that know how these cams perform wouls be awesome. Thanks a million!

The SE203 cams are good cams and can be had cheap if you keep your eyes open. The SE211 cams are for a little higher RPM range. Andrews TW26 cams are kind of like the SE203 cams as far as RPM range is considered. You might get a lot of opinions on this subject but that is my opinion. Later, Calvin.

A Bob Wood 6, with a 4* advance gear will be a fantastic choice.

I am not quite sure why you narrowed it down to SE or Andrews as there are others out there that will perform well also. Personal preference would be the HeadQuarters 0034. The Andrew 26 and the Woods 6 are also good choices.

+1 on the HQ-0034 cams. They have a 36* intake close which moves the torque earlier in the rpm's than the other popular comparable cams (Woods 6, Andrews 26, S&S 510, etc., so no need for the added expense of the 4* advance key.

Good luck with your research.

the 21's are great in a stock 88". they wake the motor up and pull from low to ~4K rpm really well, and much better than stock above 4k. If you typically ride above 4k, then the 26's may be better. Lots of twisties, hills and country roads here so not a high rever, I love the feel of low to mid range tq so 21's fit my riding style. Just think about where you want the power band...

Another +1 on the Head-Quarters 0034 Hurricane. Got a great torque boost right where it's needed, and felt. Made freeway merging fun again!

Would the HQ 0034 cam be good to drop in a stock 88 with stock heads, and then still perform well down the road with a 95" kit and head work?

I think one of the big advantages of the HQ 0034 is that it would perform well in both the cases you mention.
