All you guys that are using them, is it just for sound? I have put crossover pipes on a number of V8s over the years and the performance actually INCREASES. I would expect the same on a V twin. I know on my bike, the right pipe "works" better that the left one, because of the shape/configuration so I am guessing true duals would sound better, but aren't you losing power that way?

But the essential question is, do you HAVE to do all the other stuff? Like the air cleaner, FI remapping, Power Commanders and all that? Seems like an awful lot of dorking around with stuff, and for what. Not even the folks here can seem to agree. I just find it all very confusing...

can't really speak for any one else,
but for me,
I don't like HD stock headers but I do like true duals.
It's just a decision, it's my/your decision.
Do your own homework and when you're done:
decide for yourself what will or will not be on Your Bike.
That simple.
have fun

Low end will suffer. Power will generally increase after 3500. I put Rineharts on and sound is good. But will probably go 2-1 and sell the Duals which are not even 1 year old. This is just my opinion. Pipes are best described as get what you like and are pleased with.
