Anybody running there pipes without the heat shields or heat tape? I've got a set of 2 into 1's for my nightster but can't stand the look of the chrome shields. i'd like to wrap them in tape but too lazy to take them back off and wrap them. I know there gonna blue over time but are there any other drawbacks? Will they be far too hot to deal with on long rides?

 

They will be dangerously hot. Bare skin will stick to them....

 

Every motorcycle had blue pipes back in the day. Nortons were blue, seemed like, everywhere. Lived with it. Then some Japaneese bikes started not blueing about 1968. Strange thing. Then we found they had double wall pipes. Beginning of a trend.
Weather it sticks or just sizzles skin is not happy touching a exhaust pipe. I am reminded now and then.

 

I may try it out for a little while. If the heat is unbarable, I will put the shields back on. In the meantime, it will just be a reason for people to stay away from my bike. HAHAHA!
