Default A little help from the field

All,
I'm looking at getting away from the SE ACR heads and moving towards the Baisley Hybrid Head. I now have Weisco 10:5:1 pistons and would like to know if the Hybrid heads, Weisco pistons and SE 258 cams and Thunder Headers are 1. a great combintation and 2. what kind of Horse power and TQ can I expect. 3. Should I move up to a larger throttle body, I currently have a 50 mm.

The ACR heads with Weisco piston was a great dissapointment.

what type of power are you looking for??
i would go with the middle road pro-street heads not the hy-breds.
also woods cam not the 258
i know for a fact time and time again the super street heads with woods tw6 cam and good pipe will get you 105/105 sae all day possibley better .
now the super street heads are the starting point for Dan's heads.
the pro streets i run them and are the middle of the road heads and the hy-breds are the top of the line heads.
drag racing guys run these heads and thats why they win.
also there is a guy on the v-twin site who ran htcc heads re-worked by Dan Baisley and is running another brand now and he says that the baisley heads out perform the heads he uses now hands down. if you would like i will pm you the type of heads he is refering to .
my choice pro-street heads
woods tw8 or 9b cam
11.0 comp
fat cat.
or
super street heads
tw6hg cam
10.5 set up

oh yea you never see Bailsey heads for sale there is a reason for that.
THEY WORK .
call Dave at JD's cycle works or Call DOC thats all they use is Baisley heads
if you would like you can call me and i can tell you more about the heads.

I took Doc's opinion, and called Dave at JD's Cycle Works. He set me up right.... Baisley Heads, to match my Wood TW6G-7 cam (gear drive version of TW6-6). I'm making 100/110 out of my little 'ol 103" FXST.

On a bagger you want torque not really horsepower. Without Torque there is no Horsepower.

What are the details of your bike/motor right now?

like i mentioned before
save your money dont get the hy-breds buy the pro street and woods tw6hg cam
or
super street heads 9.6 compression and 37g cam or even a t-man cam will give you what you need.
either way you will be at or over 110 hp/tq
i like the lower compression 37g build as it requires no compression releases or roller rockers.

give Dave a call at 1-610-297-0321

if you do go hy-breds at 95 in that motor will have to be set on kill i mean you will be over 115 hp/tq closer to 120 but teh heads will require a woods 9b or f cam or even at-man 650 662 or sililar way too much cam and power for a bagger .

Sedeluxe,

Thank you! You have been the biggest help yet. I'll give dave a call.

For a thrid opinion as I always get three,

Maineultraclassic

I have a 103 CI 1690 CC
10:5:1 Weisco Flat top pistons
Bassani Header Pipes/Rhinehart slipons
SE ACR ported heads .40 Gaskets
Power Commander
SE 258 Cam

I'll change the Cam, heads and move to Thunder Headers. The pistons shall remain. I am looking for mid-range to high RPM torque yet still be able to get off the line without bogging down. I ride two up and do not want to race off the line, I want to get it on from the freeway on ram forward.

Again thanks to both of you.

if you kept those pistons and just got Baisley heads and tw6hg cam plus roller rockers. and the TTS you would be looking at 115/115 hp/tq......
oh yea maybe a little more.

G,
Dave has a 103"/9B of ours(client assembled years/thousands of miles ago)on his drum.
He called yesterday and alerted us to 119/122, and tune is not yet completed, as he needs a different needle for the Mik, and has not touched the timing yet. All good.
Same head as went on Rocco's, but with Vortex.

Default A little Help

Sedeluxe,

How much of a difference is there between the SE 258 and the tw6hg cam you recommended, is the TW6Hg a mid-to high range cam? is it a high lift cam? and is it full of TQ. I want to be able to hit high speeds on the freeway fast, as well as getting off the line quickly riding 2 up. I'm wondering, if there is not much of a difference betwenn the two cams, do I realley need to pull the 258?

Forgive my ignorence, what is "TTS"

I talked with Baisley's last night and shall be going with the Superstock heads. Dan suggested to use an LMR spring as well. What do you know about the spring? What is its main purpose?
