Default Need advice for jetting of Mikuni kit on 86 EVO

I'm building an 84-99 Softail and I'm using a stock 86 EVO motor right now. I've bought the Ultima programmable ignition kit set up for single fire and with a single fire coil, Ultima Big Growl 2-1/4" Snub Nose pipes, and a Mikuni HSR42 in the 42-8 kit for retrofitting older motors. I haven't even pulled the carb out of the box yet but I'm going to be installing everything on the motor by the weekend. So I'm not sure what jets are installed currently or needle clip position and so forth. With the mods I listed, what would be a sure fire baseline for setting up the carb. If anyone wants to chime in on the settings for the ignition, I sure won't stop you.

Default Jetting mikuni

I installed one of these on a stock evo engine last summer. With a little tweeking of the idle mixture it ran great right out of the box. Can't speak to what others have had to do, but it's a good place to start. Good luck!

I put one on a 2002 TC88 I used to have.Great carb. Really liked the the fine tuneability. Unlike the S&S. I would think it would come set up for a stock motor, unless your ordered it for something else. With no more mods than what you list I myself would put it on like is and try it like that and go from there. If I remember the instructions were pretty good as far as jetting and fine tuning. As far as the programable ignition,I can't help ya there. Good luck!

I think they come a bit rich stock. There is a "milage kit" out there that leans the whole thing out a bit. Should be about right for your motor.

Thanks everyone, I'll hopefully get it installed today.
