Click HERE and type in the pn#'s to see what a 20% dealer charges. Lifters should be mated to new cams, etc. and it is just cheap insurance.

If your funds are low...just do the bearings & tensioners.

i bought a clymer manual last week, will that suffice or no? how difficult is it to pull the pushrods out the top end? any extra work required, or adjustments?

Dawg knows what he is talking about. I got all the parts including easy adjust pushrods for about $400 from Zanotti. I pulled the cam cover(the only way to check) last week and found a lot less wear than I expected. My bike has 35K miles. I have read about tensioners going bad at 10K and not until 60K so it really depends. Open it up and have a peek. It's pretty simple to do. Dawg can talk you through it. He has been very helpful to me.

I would get the gasket and open it up first and see what the tensioner shoes look like. If you want get a digital picture and post it on here. The rear shoe is the difficult one (you will see what I mean). But look first as they may still be in good shape.

HD manual is better than Clymer. Click HERE for some good ebay deals on a 99 Dyna manual

wow i must say you guys are top of it and seem very dedicated to helping out fellow members. i am new to harleys and greatly appreciate the help. i was actually on georges site the other day looking at the cam tensioner tools. hopefully i can get into the cover this weekend and check it out. also as i asked above what all is associated in pulling pushrods besides removing the tank? are there any extra adjustments such as rocker arms or anything. sorry for my non understanding of this, i just hate adjusting valves on my 350
