Cams and Exhaust noise

Cams and Exhaust noise
I recently had SE 204's installed in my RK. Since then the SE slip ons seem to be MUCH LOUDER. [:@] What caused that? The only thing I can come up with is the exhaust lift and duration? maybe? The bike seems to be running great and the plugs are a lite grey. So WTF?

RE: Cams and Exhaust noise
If you mean the exhaust seems louder, it's because of the differing valve timing and duration between stock cams & your 204's. The 204's are gonna let the motor breath ALOT better and one of the side effects of that will be louder exhaust.
If you mean more/louder "clatter", then that's a different thing all together.

RE: Cams and Exhaust noise
Well, if it just started after the addition of new cams I'd wonder about a few things like:
Is the noise "really" excessive? The valve train on these engines can be noisey, simply by virtue of their design. Some are quieter than others.
Did they replace the lifters too? If so, did the lifters get properly and fully "pumped up"?
Did they replace the stock pushrods w/ adjustable pushrods? If so, did they get them adjusted properly?
Did you get a Big Bore kit at the same time? If so, did you get cast or forged pistons? While stronger, the forged pistons do not have the teflon coating impregnated into the skirts. As a result - they do make more noise, sometimes a LOT more noise. Right, Buttman?
So Fever... it's near impossile to say for sure, but it does help to have a general understanding of our babies - that way we have a better idea of when to be concerned vs. when to go ride & have some fun!
Hope that help, at least a little.
