NEW SE 58mm INTAKE
#2
Yes I have it. It got installed with the Heads , BB pistons, cams and so forth. So I can't tell you what difference it would have made over the 50mm that came stock if I would have just changed the TB by itself. The bike is super fun to ride now , I would like to change cams later to see if this thing could pull better past 5k rpms. It starts to flatten out above 5k rpm and I am sure the 251's are hampering things a bit. With the heads that you have I am sure you could use more TB size easily, Wolf is the KING!!

He does good.
I don't think he is happy with this cam. Nothing wrong with this cam, he just tends to like more cam. Calls this one a short cam. May get a Woods 8 or 9 next time.
I asked Wolf which TB and he said get the SE58.
He tunes with the Power Commander with the O2 sensors and I do SERT, so I am wondering.
Havn't done it yet, weather seems to nice now to take this apart.
Figured to think about it and ask around.
So any ideas?

I could be totally out of line by saying this, but what's the deal with HD selling a 58mm throttle body with a 103" kit (stage IV, I believe). I don't know, but it seems a little large for the build. I see guys on the site, like Dalton, who's only running a 55mm HPI throttle body, on his 120" HQ build. So, why such a large one on a "small" build?

I just finished my 113 build. All SE with ACR heads, 10.5:1, SE251 Cams, 58mm throttle body. I figured since I was going for power and spending a bunch of money why have the TB be the point of constriction.
I agree with qtrracer about the 251 cams holding back the build a bit. I will have to aquire some hotter cams soon.
My ride is on the dyno today and since I did not have any numbers with the TB only I will report back with the overall numbers later today.

I think HD had to get right with the EPA, or at least get righter. No more wink, wink, nudge, nudge. When they say now, "Off Road or Racing only", they got to be closer to the mark. Notice the SE Catalog is thinner.
I don't know about overkill completely but it now means closer to what it says. Race Only.

i'm really hopeful about the new 58mm two-piece t-body/manifold...the one-piece 50 and 58 are limited by their restrictive manifolds...not sure if i'd run out and buy the new two-piece yet, i'd like to see a few dyno runs or flow tests first...if i had to buy one today, it'd be a horsepower inc...i have a 55mm hpi on my 110 and it works great
also i like the 251 cam, have used it before in a bagger and the midrange torque was good...currently running 257 cams at 10.4 compression in a 110 dyna and it pulls great above 3000...lotta folks like their power to come on sooner, and we have to ask ourselves how important is power above 4500, how often do we spin it that high...big numbers on a dyno sheet don't always make for a very streetable bike
